Benefits

Most card providers levy additional charges for overseas usage – you'll probably be charged a loading fee (also known as a conversion fee) of between 2.50% and 3.00% each time you use the card. There will also be a withdrawal fee if you use your card to withdraw money from a cash machine. Cash withdrawals also tend to attract a higher rate of interest than that levied on purchases and balance transfers.
However, there are a number of credit cards that don't levy these fees, or charge less than average, making them much better option for use abroad.
